About the Artists:

Cynthia and Steve Adams

Cynthia and Steve Adams moved to Naples, FL from Atlanta, GA in 1997. Inspired by the climate and natural beauty of the area, their work has evolved into colorful, abstract mixed-media paintings that inspire and energize any interior space.

As abstract painters, a blank canvas is the start of an exciting journey with an unknown outcome. Marks using oil pastels begin the process, with layers of acrylic to follow. Alcohols and ink may be applied next to add depth, shape and texture. Final touches are deliberately placed until achieving that balance of active and quiet areas, energetic color and meandering line. The uncertainty of the outcome keeps the desire and motivation to paint fresh and inspiring every day they show up at their studio. When their finished creations invite viewers to linger for awhile in a state of contemplation they know they have achieved their goal.

On weekdays you will find them in their studio, working on multiple pieces at a time, exotic world music playing in the background. The fall and winter seasons in Florida find them active on the art show scene, and they travel throughout the state on weekends, participating in fine art festivals. Several times a year they also head to northern Virginia, another favorite place to exhibit.

In addition to painting they are also actively involved with teaching to a few local organizations such as The Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled, PACE Center for Girls, and at a senior community services center through the United Arts Council. One of their greatest joys comes from helping others to push that creative "envelope" and not be afraid to get some paint on their hands (and clothes, and hair, and shoes!)
